Include correspondence, 1860-1873, of Daniel Garrow Marrow, mostly with Maria Smith Peek in which she relates news of family and friends in Virginia during the Civil War and events concerning their courtship, and letters from William Hope Peek about courtship and studying medicine at the University of Virginia, Bellevue Hospital in New York City, and at the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania; orders, 1862, to report for duty in the Confederate States Army; material, 1865, concerning paroled prisoners of war at Appomattox Court House, Va.; certificate, 1865, concerning Daniel Garrow Marrow's oath of allegiance to support the United States government; and correspondence, 1861-1863, of Dr. William Hope Peek concerning his service as a Confederate army surgeon and the celebration in Hampton, Va., of the surrender of Fort Sumter, S.C.
